Now, you can finally play the daily Wordle in an app. This isn't a dedicated Wordle app, though, so don't head straight to the Google Play Store to grab every app titled Wordle, as those will remain copycats. Instead, you'll find it as part of The New York Times Crossword app that is available for both Android and iOS.

Do I have to register with The New York Times or pay to play Wordle? No, Wordle is free to play. You do not have to register or sign in to play. However, you can sign in with a free New York Times account to save your progress permanently.

Any word that appears in this version of the game would have appeared in the original version too. That means, if anything, the Times actually made the game easier. A spokesperson for the Times confirmed this in a statement: "Since acquiring Wordle, we have not made the puzzle harder.

Nope, the true Wordle can only be found on the creator's website. If you didn't already know that Wordle can only be played on Josh Wardle's website, you might think it's an app with how many people are playing it on their phones.

Install and download The New York Times Crossword app from the Google Play Store (see our widget below this section). Tap Wordle on the home page, then tap Play.

This is because Wordle was available on two platforms — the original web page and the NY Times' site.

Some Wordle players have found success in starting with a word that has several vowels in it. “Adieu,” “audio” or “canoe,” for instance, may be good words to start with because at least three out of the five letters are vowels.
